JAMES Delivery Technician Certification Program

Registration Deadline is October 1, 2010!

JAMES will present Randy Schluter and his Delivery Technician Certification Program on Wednesday, October 6, 2010.  Registration will be from 10:00 - 10:30, the program will begin promptly at 10:30 a.m. and end at 5:00 p.m.  The program will be held at the Ocean Place Resort & Spa, One Ocean Boulevard, Long Branch, New Jersey.

The Delivery Technician Certification Program (DTCP) is a national certification program for personnel responsible for medical equipment delivery, set up, and patient education.  Here's a sample of what attendees get from the DTCP:

  • Proper documentation of received education is imperative for the HME business personnel files in regards to Accreditation and CMS standards.  Attendees get this material with the DTCP.
  • Accrediting organizations and CMS Quality/Industry Standards dictate that all personnel involved with the delivery of equipment and supplies as well as patient education and care, understand the federal regulations governing the delivery of home healthcare.  Certification is proof the staff has an excellent working knowledge of the proper delivery of home healthcare.
  • A review of standard protocols and requirements for areas such as DOT/OSHA/HIPAA/TSA regulations.
  • Review and instruction on the best practices in home medical equipment setup and patient education.

JAMES members will pay $149 per attendee.  Non-members will pay $199 per attendee. The rate will include the full day program, manual, review, and testing.

The program can be combined with our annual conference rate for attendance at both events. Please see attendee registration for "Barriers to Boomers - How to Overcome and Prosper" under the "Events" page of this website.

Something for Everyone!

This is a conference designed with something for everyone!  Kicking off the two-day session on October 6 will be a specialized training and certification program for delivery technicians.  The day moves on to offer billing staff a three hour presentation of the most up-to-date topics from NHIC, Corp's Outreach & Education Specialists, and a one hour presentation from the National Supplier Clearinghouse (NSC).  Those who complete the training session will receive a certificate of attendance.  In addition, three separate CEU courses - worth 1 CEU per course - are being sponsored by Fisher & Paykel Healthcare, ResMed and Philips Respironics.

We then invite you to the opening of our exhibit hall, which will also serve as the location for our President's Reception - a cocktail hour with unlimited bar services - sponsored by Invacare.  Be sure to visit all exhibitors and become eligible to win a relaxing spa service package that will include overnight guest accommodations and breakfast at the Ocean Place Resort & Spa!

Attendees will enjoy a dinner break that spans from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. JAMES conference attendees and vendors who choose to dine at  McCloone's Pier House will receive 15% off their entire restaurant bill when presenting their JAMES conference ID badge.   McCloone's Pier House is located within walking distance in  neighboring Pier Village.  After the dinner break, owners and senior management will meet for the Owner's Summit and Dessert Hour, sponsored by the Jersey Association of Medical Equipment Services.  Chris Calderone will open the summit with a presentation titled, "Winning by Numbers:  Getting Employees to Think Like Owners".  Round table discussions will follow the presentation.

David Barmak, JAMES General Counsel, will open the conference on October 7 with a one hour presentation on "Fraud, Waste and Abuse". Rahshaan Felder, an Ombudsman with the CMS Competitive Bidding Implementation Contractor will provide valuable prebidding education during her 90 minute presentation titled, "New Jersey - A Round 2 MSA:  Competitive Bidding Essentials from CMS".  Enjoy a refreshment break with our exhibitors, sponsored by The VGM Group, and then receive an update from John Guhl, the director of New Jersey Medicaid.

Our exhibit hall will be the location for our luncheon, sponsored by Drive Medical, and our board of director elections.  Tyler Wilson, President of the American Association for Homecare, will provide an election update during our luncheon.  Afterward, we will present Chris Calderone, of Lean Homecare Consulting, who will discuss "Introducing Lean Thinking Concepts for HME Providers".  An afternoon refreshment break will immediately follow.  Following the break, listen to a briefing on the state of legislative affairs within the industry by Alan Morris of The VGM Group.

To end our conference, we invite all JAMES members to our General Membership Meeting, where the election results will be announced and general business matters of the association discussed.  Do not forget - the winner of the spa package will be announced at the General Membership Meeting, and must be present to claim this fabulous give-away!

We look forward to seeing you on October 6 - 7, 2010!

Come out and see what we're all about!

"Developing a Bid You Can Live With"

The Jersey Association of Medical Equipment Services and Wallace Weeks of The Weeks Group presents:

"Developing a Bid You Can Live With"

Wallace will present his popular workshop, “Developing a Bid You Can Live With” on December 8, 2010, at the Crowne Plaza Newark Airport.  The objective of this day-long workshop is to enable providers to be both competitive and profitable.

Workshop attendees will bring actual data from their own companies so they leave with a part of their bid preparation complete.  They will be able to determine what their activity costs are at the HCPCS level, how much they can afford to discount,  and how they can change their cost structure to be both profitable and competitive.

Attendees will be provided with software, instruction in collecting and inputting data into the software, and how to interpret the results in order to make informed decisions about what they can afford to bid and the costs they may need to remove from the services associated with each of their products.

This workshop is limited to 40 participants - register early to guarantee your seat!

The workshop will run from 8:30 - 5:00 p.m.  The Crowne Plaza Newark Airport is located at 901 Spring Street, Elizabeth, New Jersey.  Overnight guest rooms are available for $109 per night.

"The confidence it has given me going forward is the most valuable aspect of this program. I feel for the first time I have a footing on how to approach competitive bidding."  Stephen Jalbert, Beverly Medical Supplies, Peabody, MA
